In this position, I was able to gain experience in various fields, including the political, cultural and press and administrative areas. I was especially involved in drafting various reports for the Federal Foreign Office on the political situation in Fiji and the development policies of the New Zealand Government.

The goal of this project was to develop the components for a virtual tour of Bayreuth, one of Germany’s most culturally significant smaller cities. I was in charge of developing this multimedia format as well as writing the chapters for a book with the name “Stationen”, with the main focus to integrate language and culture. The major aim of this was to enable students of Washington and Lee University in the second-year language classes to gain greater cultural competency.

I assisted in organising the annual General Assembly of the UCEU (Union of the Capitals of the European Union) that was to be held in Dublin in October 2008. This included the organisation of a picture exhibition involving the 27 European Capital Cities. I was also involved in finding strategies to improve Dublin City’s international competitiveness (international benchmarking, comparing Dublin with several citiesin Europe, the US, Australia, New Zealand and Asia). I did a) Airport transfers (picked up clients from Germany, Austria and Switzerland as well as English speaking clients from the airport and brought them to their hotel on the coach) b) Walking tours of Dublin city centre (including Trinity College, Christ Church Cathedral, Medieval Quarter, Georgian Quarter) as well as panoramic city tours on the coach in German and English.
