Cycle of seminars for the Comparative Area Studies course. This is the two-term course Comparative Area Studies, a required course for the Politics and Economics of Asia, the HSE-KIC dual degree program students. This course aims to provide students with basic knowledge and analytical tools for a more concrete understanding of countries and regions in the world by introducing two major disciplines in the social sciences, i.e., comparative politics and area studies.

The programme provides research training with an emphasis on the study of transnational relations, cooperation between Asia and the West and between Asia and Russia. It also focuses on demographic and ethno-religious processes; economic, military and political elites; modern technologies; globalization and modernization. A special one-year course is dedicated to studying economic development and the unique aspects of doing business in East Asia, Southeast Asia and the Middle East.
