Über mich
Babatunde is a Chemical Process Engineer with an educational background in chemical engineering and an interest in energy and the environment. He is a strong enthusiast of "Waste-to-Resource" with an interest in developing innovative technologies to recover valuable materials from secondary (and primary) sources in a sustainable manner. Babatunde's SINReM MSc was focused on the development of sustainable processes for the extraction, processing, and recovery of valuable elements from both primary and secondary sources. My research was titled "Selective early recovery of lithium from end-of-life lithium-ion batteries".

Process Engineer
Rock Tech Lithium Inc.
Project: Lithium Hydroxide Converter Guben (24,000 tpa LHM) Responsibilities: • Simulation of the lithium hydroxide monohydrate refining process from Spodumene with HSC Chemistry simulation software and general mass, water, and energy balance of the process • Development and review of metallurgical test work program in collaboration with external laboratory vendors and integration of the results from the test work in the simulation program

Process Engineering Research Intern (Master Thesis)
K-UTEC AG Salt TechnologiesMy master's thesis was titled "Selective early recovery of lithium from end-of-life lithium-ion batteries”. Responsibilities: • Black mass sample preparation and characterization (ICP, XRD and PSD) • Experiments on black mass activation / pre-treatment in high-temperature furnace (variation of parameters such as calcination temperature, time, and additive ratio) and on leaching of activated black mass (variation of parameters such as leaching temperature, time, liquid/solid ratio)
The Institute for Non-Ferrous Metallurgy and High Purity Materials (INEMET) execute research focused on sustainable and innovative processes. My research was focused on evaluating and comparing the effect of pH on the performance of two types of ion exchange resins for the recovery of indium from leach solution. My responsibilities include planning and execution of ion exchange experiments; and carrying out complexometric titrations to determine indium concentration in the loaded and regenerated samples.
K-UTEC is a research and engineering with expertise in process design, engineering and development for potash, salts, and energy minerals. I worked with a team of researchers/engineers on the extended process design for the production of battery-grade lithium hydroxide monohydrate from a lithium-containing ore. My responsibilities include: • Practical work in the laboratory and pilot plant on process stages such as leaching, evaporation, crystallization, precipitation, among others
