During my doctoral dissertation I studied the regulation of isoprenoid biosynthesis (plant specialized metabolism) at branch points, focusing on the GGPP synthase gene family from the model plant Arabidopsis thaliana. I characterized the GGPPS paralogs in terms of evolutionary history, differential expression pattern, mutant phenotype and association with distinct metabolic fluxes as inferred from the in silico gene co-expression network.
