Leading and building the new department of lab automation systems (LAS) to develop, test and build the LAS instruments providing capabilities to scale up autologuous cell products with automated QC control in the GMP environment. Reporting to the Miltenyi company leadership team. Supporting the structurization of the global instrument R&D organization. Learning new every day!

I am responsible for the development of the cell separation instruments reporting directly to the company leadership team. In parallel bringing the autoMACS NEO Separator to the production with CE. Launch at 1.02.2023. Supporting the R&D adaptations because of the vast growth of Miltenyi Biotec including the melting in of daughter companies to the Miltenyi Biotec. Bringing in my experience to interview and recruit the right people to ensure the growth of Mitenyi and maintain a powerful R&D organisation.

Leading the R&D department of >23 engineers for development of a wide range of products. Bringing new medical and diagnostical products from the idea to series production including CE and/or FDA certification. Regulatory considerations of MDR or IVDD with standards like e.g. 60601, 61010, 62304, 14971. Customer negotiation from first contact to negotiaton of full development contracts. Setup of roadmaps, giving guidance to project managers and controlling upto 13 projects baselines running in parallel.

Leading a group of 18 engineers organized in 2 scrum teams and an integration team in the software development.
