About 60'000 pages per day are digitized, augmented with metadata and routed to the appropriate claims handling unit. Physical mail is distributed to the 70+ branch offices all over Switzerland. Using state-of-the-art technologies and automation for - bulk letter receiving - high-speed scanning - automatic metadata extraction and enrichment - document management is the key to handle the daily volume.

Production Quality center was optimizing the IT landscape by end-to-and analysis of multi-tier applications and did performance tuning, troubleshooting and continuous improvement. Responsible for the SAP Basis team and a landscape with ABAP & Java stacks consisting of HR, BI, SRM, TREX and EP. I was defining the platform operational architecture based on Solaris/Linux and Windows 2008 featuring high-availability.
Managing globally the development of IT infrastructure solutions according to business needs. This includes the following technology stacks: Server OS (Solaris, Linux, Windows), Workstation OS (only Windows in various flavors), Middleware (Websphere), Databases (DB2, Oracle, SQL), Application frameworks (Lotus Notes, EDMS) and ERP systems (SAP) and the corporate data and voice network.
My unit provided infrastructure services for the SR headquarter and EMEA region (ex UK). This included engineering for all standard technology stacks (decentral server & workstation landscape, relational DBs, mainframe, middleware, etc.), the corporate data and voice network and the operations of two redundant data centers (5000 MIPS mainframe, several hundred decentral servers). 24 x 7 operations control center and governance services.
Responsibility for the engineering of all decentralized server platforms (Windows, Solaris, AX400). Global functional lead for Groupware and file services platforms. Line / budget management responsibility for a team of about 20 employees.
Responsible for the successful introduction of the Lotus Notes platform to Swiss Re. This was together with the establishment of the group data network the first step towards globalization of IT infrastructure.
