• Managed Belgian R&D team (25 engineers & linguists), coordination with Yardley-based teams. • Maintenance & support of Vantage-acquired ex-L&H/Sail-Labs content management products. • Reapplied linguistic engines for use in Vantage’s educational products (esp. writing feedback & automated essay scoring enhancements).

• Managed Belgian R&D staff of Intelligent Content Management Department (25 engineers & linguists), coordinating with Munich-based teams. • Research & development of linguistic improvements for Information Management – used in for example Wextech’s AnswerWorks and eHelp’s RoboHelp product lines (now Macromedia) . Contributed retrieval component to NavLex (joint venture between Intel & L&H)

• Managed the ‘Lexical Technology Group’: developed spellers, thesauri, hyphenators, and morphological engines and data (all WP languages) - coord. with Albuquerque- and Orem-based teams. • Reengineered lex/morph technologies into unified system for hyphenation, spelling, and morphological analysis & generation. • R&D new NLP technologies, content management & retrieval: EuroWordnet participation; in-house 5-language semantic network ConceptNet dev; Natural Language Interface for Help SDK

• Managed the ‘Lexical Technology Group’ (12 engineers & linguists), in charge of development & maintenance for WP/Novell’s spellers, thesauri, hyphenators, and the morphological engines and databases underlying these (all languages), coordinating with Albuquerque- and Orem-based teams. • Reengineering of various different underlying lexical & morphological technologies into new unified language-independent system for hyphenation, spelling, and morphological analysis & generation.

• Development of the world’s first French and German grammar checkers, re-architected the next generation of Reference’s flagship English grammar checker Grammatik. • Development of the compression & access engines for the Random House and Collins electronic dictionaries & thesauri (later also used in the electronic Van Dale translation dictionaries and Gredos’ Maria Moliner).

• Development of a wide range of corpus and lexicon management tools to support Soft-Art’s multilingual spellers, hyphenators, thesauri, and translation dictionaries. • Development of Finnish spell checker working with a native speaker and a data entry team.
