Dr. Jana Simonis

Primary function was to be the official representative of and advocate for the Council, as well as international student communities, on campus. Responsibilities included supervisory duties of four additional council members, training and facilitation of responsibilities for fellow council members, supervising, executing, and overseeing all sporting and social events, marketing and promotion, and functioning as the main contact person between different offices and stakeholders across campus.

Primary function was to configure and maintain the local and international database for rare books, multivolumes, and serials of the Open Court Collection at Southern Illinois University Carbondale, including preservation and catalogization of rare book materials, data entry, configuration, and database maintenance. Other responsibilities included research assistance and maintenance of statistical records of researcher activities.

The primary function of the Chief of Staff is to effectively communicate with international students and international groups campus-wide. Responsibilities further included administrative duties for all social media outlets and operating as the main contact person for a variety of different offices across campus (i.e., Center for International Education, Student Center, etc.).

Responsible for multilingual translations and proof-reading of documents, website materials, and brochures with special emphasis on legal, marketing, and (technical/mechanical) engineering translations using different translation tools, such as XTM Cloud and Plunet. Key accomplishments: • Awarded with being made one of the main translators for the Bosch GmbH account after only 2 weeks in service.

Responsible for customer service and care during large scale international events and exhibitions, including sports events hosted by the NFL Europe, FIFA, and the German Bundesliga, concerts, and exhibitions by Messe Dusseldorf. Other responsibilities included security service work, customer orientation, and multi-lingual customer support services.
