• Conducted research on underlying molecular causes of painful diabetic neuropathy (PDN), cancer-induced bone pain (CIBP), and neuropathic pain. • Supervised graduate and undergraduates scientific staff. • Managed national and international research projects funded by AICR, ERC , and DFG. • Patent Pending – Selective Inhibitors of Neutrophil Elastase for Treating Neuropathic Pain and Chronic Pain States Harbouring a Neuropathic Component, Patent Application PCT/EP2015/072541.

• Initiated new research program on microRNA-mediated mechanisms in chronic pain and performed pioneering studies on the role of non-coding RNAs in cancer pain (Bali et.al. EMBO mol med., 2014). • Standardized novel in vivo and in vitro protocols using pre-clinical mice. • Supervised Masters and Bachelors students. • Thesis title: Genome-wide identification and functional validation of microRNAs and mRNAs associated with chronic pain (Mentor: Prof. Rohini Kuner)

• Designed and performed experiments to conduct research project entitled Understanding Changes in Neuronal Functions in Normal and Impaired Brains. • Trained summer interns and laboratory rotation students. • Managed laboratory consumables.
