    To provide support for up to a million simultaneous connections per square KM (for 5G), various schemes of non-orthogonal multiple access were proposed that allow increasing the number of simultaneously active users. Sparse code multiple access uses sparse multidimensional codewords which allow iterative detecting algorithms implementation with reasonable complexity. In this thesis work, the basic principles and properties of SCMA are investigated in terms of complexity and achievable information rates.
