One of the most exciting facets of my work is to apply and develop physical, statistical, and machine learning models to gain novel insight into fundamental processes. Lately I have been diving into the field of protein physics. Digging deep into a topic and finding elegant solutions for challenging problems as a part of an ambitious team has always been one of the most intriguing and rewarding aspects of my work. This includes also the development of high performance data analysis pipelines to mine, process and analyze big scientific data sets including image and time series data with state-of-the-art technologies like high performance and GPU computing. As a researcher, I lead international expert teams from different fields and organize experiments at world leading X-ray research facilities like synchrotrons and free-electron lasers.
