Dr. Michael Perscheid

As part of SAP BTP Foundation Engineering (until March 2024 we were part of SAP New Ventures and Technologies), I'm leading highly skilled, results-oriented, and technology-focused teams that build on a visionary composable process platform and related innovative business services. Eventually, this platform should provide an end-to-end integration of process modelling and execution in order to enable immediate response to business needs and market changes.

I am the chair representative of Prof. Dr. Hasso Plattner at the Hasso Plattner Institute (HPI) for Digital Engineering, University of Potsdam. My responsibilities include the general coordination and steering of teaching, research, project activities, and industry partnerships of the Enterprise Platform and Integration Concepts (EPIC) research group. This also includes managing and advising academic research teams at undergraduate, graduate, and PhD-level.

While I am the Chair Representative of Prof. Hasso Plattner at the Enterprise Platform and Integration Concepts research group (EPIC, Hasso Plattner Institute), I stay with SAP and strengthen the cooperation between university and industry.

I'm the Head of Strategic Projects in SAPs Central Engineering unit (Technology and Innovation Board Area). In this role, I'm leading highly skilled, results-oriented, and technology-focused development teams to come up with tangible results for high-priority inquiries from the Executive Board and Supervisory Board of SAP. With an agile and flexible setup, we realize strategic projects such as implementing proof of concepts, supporting keynotes and papers, or creating reports about latest trends.

Tasks included, for example tutor for “Software Architecture” and “Software Engineering I” lecture, presentations and talks to Smalltalk, Seaside, and Extreme Programming, organizer of Squeak and Etoys workshops for pupils, and student volunteer at the S3 (Self-sustaining Systems) workshop.

Tasks included the design and implementation of two scenarios for an extensible mobile application called ContextWatcher (today IYOUIT). A city trip guide and an early up-to-date traffic obstacle alerter were implemented with Python, Javascript, Squeak, and Seaside. A Web portal was developed integrating and presenting the collected information with several services such as Google Maps and Flickr. Agile development processes such as Extreme Programming were used to realize the project.
