Sergiy Plakhota

While working as translator, interpreter, executive assistant for Internal Audit Department of INDEXBANK, PJSC, I have been lucky to be in the centre of the most important activities and processes of the Bank. Thus, I have seen from within essential planning, human resources, compliance, and risk management, and document management issues. I am also leading the introduction, implementation, and localisation of audit software complex MyAudit at INDEXBANK, PJSC.

My experience of working for IMBG of NAS of Ukraine was one of those essential experiences that allows one to analyse, reconsider, strengthen, and apply the skills acquired. I have been working in tight contact with Director of IMBG of NAS of Ukraine, Prof. Anna El’skaya. Although, the field of scientific research was not the one I had been specialised in, I still managed successfully the difficult task of “writing/translating as a scientist” and translated 12 Volumes of Biopolymers and Cell.

My short experience with Synergy, LLC, introduced me to international business activity and enabled me to apply my technical understanding skills during translating/interpreting activity for processes of manufacturing of agricultural equipment. Apart from that I was also responsible for working with customs-house during the export of agricultural equipment abroad.

The first, the longest and the most substantial experience I have had working in the foreign organisation in Ukraine was at Beacon World Missions (headquarters in Trenton, GA). This experience gave me the grounds for forming as a translator and interpreter; allowed me to test, modify, apply, and, to some extent, polish my English language skills while teaching the English language to groups of adults and working with groups of Americans visiting Ukraine.
