Dr. Szymon Gladysz
Angestellt, Gruppenleiter, Fraunhofer Institut für Optronik, Systemtechnik und Bildauswertung IOSB
Ettlingen, Deutschland
Über mich
I lead the Adaptive Optics Group at Fraunhofer Institute of Optronics, System Technologies and Image Exploitation in Ettlingen, Germany. I obtained my Ph.D. in Physics from the National University of Ireland in Galway in 2007. I then worked at European Southern Observatory in Garching (Germany) and at Technion - Israel Institute of Technology. I joined Fraunhofer in 2012 and I currently lead research which focuses on free-space laser communications. I have been awarded several awards and grants, e.g. from University of California, US Air Force and US Navy. I have led several teams, both at Fraunhofer (currently 10 team members) and internationally. I currently lead three NATO groups with a total headcount of around 50. I have managed field trials, grants and projects worth around 4 million USD. All projects I have led were related to, or performed in collaboration with companies and institutions from the defence and aerospace sector.
