Postdoctoral Researcher; Principle Investigator
Technische Universität München
I am the Principle Investigator of a 5-year research project entitled " The influence of visual movement on auditory rhythm perception", funded by the German Research Foundation (DFG). I investigate how humans process the rhythm information in music and in dance, how similar sensory and motor mechanisms are used to underlie rhythm perception in both, and how, in a multisensory environment, dance observation modulates musical rhythm perception. For my publications: http://orcid.org/0000-0003-2660-9183
I worked as a research associate in the Center for Sensorimotor Research (director: Prof. Dr. Stefan Glasauer), on a DFG-funded project “Navigation and obstacle avoidance”. We looked into how humans employ different strategies to avoid collision during locomotion (walking). Here I acquired new knowledge of motion tracking techniques, which was very relevant for my subsequent research involving movement analysis in dance. This was my first postdoctoral research position before I received my own grant.
I worked in the Institute of Medical Psychology as a research assistant for the project "Emotion in music and speech" to gain research experiences before starting my PhD in 2009. This was the first step for me to get involved in a research topic related to the cognitive sciences of music, which I had intended to choose for my PhD. My work experience here enabled me to successfully obtain a doctoral scholarship subsequently to continue working on my PhD (2009-2012) in the same institute.
