#QuantumSensing
Nomad Atomics is on a mission to make the broad uptake of quantum sensing a reality and simultaneously push the limits of our field beyond what we think is possible. We are building the world’s most advanced fit-for-purpose quantum sensors to allow us to see the world like never before.
Our team is made up of leaders in the quantum sensing field. We believe the time for commercial quantum sensing has come, and we are determined to make it happen.
We are an Australia founded company with an office in Berlin. We are growing at the office here and we are searching for a working student who can support our physics and engineering in lab experiments and testing.

Who you are
You are a voracious learner, and you love building things. You apply these principles to all parts of science and engineering and are excited to operate at the forefront of technology testing. It’s ok if you don’t have all the skills yet to build a quantum sensor, because you want to work with our local team of experts to fill in the gaps. You are still in university but want to get some practical work experience in a field relevant to your studies.
Your role
The position is offered part-time for ten hours a week and you will be working hands-on withcutting-edge quantum sensing technology. You will be a valuable resource supporting our physics and engineers to launch our sensor and commercialize it during this year. You will work in the lab on
projects to build and test electronics, optical system and software components of these sensors.
Depending on your specific background and focus, you will support the development team by carrying out tasks like:

  • Building and optimizing optical test setups.
  • Writing and debugging firmware and components for our sensors.
  • Handling and programming electronic test and automation equipment.
  • Soldering and testing of custom electronics and printed circuit boards.
  • Assisting our team in developing our next-generation quantum sensors

Your Skills:
It’s not about specifically where you have come from nor what qualifications you have. What truly matters is that you are a fast learner and have a hands-on problem-solving mentality.

  • You have completed a bachelor’s degree in physics, chemistry, computer science, mechanical or electrical engineering, or similar.
  • You have first-hand experience with some of the tasks outlined above.
  • You have excellent problem-solving and analytical skills, with the ability to work independently and in a team environment.

The nuts and bolts:

  • Location: Adlershof, Berlin.
  • Part-time position: 16-20 hours/week
  • Start date: as soon as possible.
  • Salary: €800 per month.

If you think you’re right for the role, but don’t have some of these skills, reach out – we’d love to talk anyway.
