The mission of the Berlin Institute of Health at Charité (BIH) is medical translation: transferring biomedical research findings into novel approaches to personalized prediction, prevention, diagnostics and therapies and, conversely, using clinical observations to develop new research ideas. The aim is to deliver relevant medical benefits to patients and the population at large. Since 2021 the BIH has been integrated into Charité as its so-called third pillar.
The Angiogenesis & Metabolism Laboratory, led by Prof. Dr. Michael Potente, is seeking a talented and highly motivated postdoctoral scientist to join its team. Based at the Berlin Institute of Health (BIH) at Charité, the lab conducts fundamental research in vascular biology, with a particular focus on the role of metabolism. Using a broad range of state-of-the-art molecular, cellular, and imaging techniques, the laboratory investigates how metabolic processes influence vascular growth and remodeling during development and in disease.

starting from the Juni 1, 2025 until December 31, 2025 we are looking for a
Postdoctoral Scientist
(f/m/d) in full-time (min. 38,5h/week).
What you can expect
- Design and conduct independent research in the field of vascular biology and metabolism
- Develop and apply molecular, cellular, and imaging approaches to study angiogenesis and lymphangiogenesis
- Analyze and interpret experimental data and contribute to the publication of high-impact scientific articles
- Collaborate actively with internal and external partners across disciplines
- Present research findings at lab meetings and international conferences
- Contribute to the supervision and mentoring of students and junior researchers
What you bring along
- PhD (or equivalent) in life sciences, biomedicine, molecular biology, or a related field
- Solid background in vascular biology, metabolism, or a related biomedical discipline Hands-on experience with techniques such as cell culture, confocal microscopy, flow cytometry, and in vivo models
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
- Demonstrated ability to publish in peer-reviewed scientific journals
- High level of motivation, curiosity, and the ability to work both independently and collaboratively
- Strong communication skills in English (written and spoken)

- Pay group E13 TVöD VKA-K. The classification is based on qualifications, the respective experience level is calculated on the basis of professional experience. Additional Information:
Please note that mobile working (home office) is not possible for this position,
as it involves wet-lab-based experimental work. The role requires a regular onsite
presence to perform hands-on experiments, operate specialized
equipment, and collaborate closely with team members.
