Position Title: Postdoctoral Fellow – Quantum Computing for CFD Location: Waterloo, Ontario, Canada (Remote work may be possible) Employment Type: Full-Time, Fixed-Term (1 Year, with possibility to renew for an additional 2 years) Start Date: 1 April, 2025 Application Deadline: 15 March, 2025 About Us: WATCFD Engineering Consulting Inc. (www.watcfd.com) is a leading innovator in the field of Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD), dedicated to pushing the boundaries of simulation technology to solve complex fluid flow problems across industries. We are embarking on an exciting new project to explore the application of quantum computing to revolutionize CFD methodologies. To drive this initiative, we are seeking a highly-motivated and skilled Postdoctoral Fellow to join our team. Position Overview: We are looking for a talented and ambitious Postdoctoral Fellow to lead cutting- edge research at the intersection of quantum computing and CFD. The successful candidate will work on developing novel algorithms, models, and frameworks to leverage quantum computing for solving fluid dynamics problems more efficiently and accurately. This is a unique opportunity to contribute to groundbreaking research in a dynamic and collaborative environment. Key Responsibilities: • Conduct innovative research on the application of quantum computing to CFD. • Develop and implement quantum algorithms for solving fluid dynamics equations. • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including CFD engineers, quantum computing experts, and software developers. • Publish research findings in high-impact journals and present at international conferences. • Contribute to the development of quantum-enhanced CFD software tools. • Stay abreast of advancements in quantum computing and CFD to identify new opportunities for innovation. Qualifications: • A Ph.D in Computational Fluid Dynamics, Quantum Computing, Applied Mathematics, Physics, Computer Science, or a related field. • Strong background in CFD, including experience with numerical methods, turbulence modeling, and high-performance computing. • Familiarity with quantum computing principles, algorithms, and programming (e.g., Qiskit, Cirq, TKET, or other quantum computing frameworks). • Proficiency in programming languages such as Python, C++, or Fortran. • Demonstrated ability to conduct independent research and publish in peer- reviewed journals. • Excellent problem-solving skills and a passion for innovation. • Strong communication and collaboration skills. Desirable Skills: • Experience with hybrid quantum-classical algorithms. • Knowledge of machine learning techniques and their application to CFD. • Familiarity with quantum hardware and its limitations. • Experience in software development for scientific computing.
