At the Institute of Discrete Mathematics and Geometry , the Research Unit of Applied Geometry is offering a position as university assistant (prae-doc) limited to expected 4 years for 30 hours/week. Expected start: October 2025.

Tasks:

• Research on topics of the research unit (e.g. applied geometry, discrete geometric structures, discrete differential geometry, geometry processing)
• Teaching tasks (geometry in architecture, mathematics, and in teacher training) as well as examinations
• Cooperation and guidance of students
• Cooperation with the Center for Geometry and Computational Design
• Writing a dissertation and publications
• Participation in scientific events
• Assistance/ Collaboration in organizational and administrative tasks

Your profile:

• Completion of a master or diploma curriculum in Mathematics or similar
• Experience in the following scientific fields: (classical/ applied) geometry (not required)
• Very good skills in German and English communication and writing
• Interest in research in the field as well as supervision and work with students
• Very good communicative skills and team competences and innovative ability

Entry level salary is determined by the pay grade B1 of the Austrian collective agreement for university staff. This is a minimum of currently EUR 2,786.10/month gross, 14 times/year for 30 hours/week. Relevant working experiences may increase the monthly income.
