Brownson Technical School, educating students in the field of heating, ventilation, air conditioning (HVAC), and refrigeration for more than 26 years, is a private, accredited vocational institution located in Anaheim. Southern California students can easily reach the school, located at the epicenter of public transportation and freeways. Brownson Technical School’s size enables a favorable student-to-teacher ratio, enhancing the learning experience.
Brownson Technical School students attend the fully equipped training facility to gain hands-on training and experience to enter high-demand and well-paying jobs in the industry. The school’s relationship with employers in the field has yielded student success stories throughout Southern California. In addition to a requisite professional development class, Brownson Technical School students have a career center at their disposal, complete with assistance interviewing and an extensive job and contractor database. School staff actively seek out new job opportunities from contractors who have hired students in many cases since 1984, when the school was founded, to employers previously unaware of this great recruiting resource. Students receive help sharpening their resumés and interviewing skills, and have the opportunity to attend job fairs and trade shows with the assistance of the school staff.
Because Brownson Technical School is a private institution, it can quickly change the curriculum to adapt to industry developments. William Brown - Director, works with faculty members to keep the training cutting-edge. Environmental concerns make HVAC and refrigeration services more in-demand than ever. Students of Brownson Technical School can achieve nationally recognized section 608 EPA certification while at the school, an accomplishment necessary to enter the industry.
NATE (North American Technician Excellence) training is the most valuable industry-recognized certification in the state according to Southern California Edison, and is available to all graduates and alumni of Brownson Technical School without charge. While the training is no cost to the student, the school does ask applicants to pay for the actual NATE tests.
HVAC and refrigeration professionals provide repair, maintenance, and emergency services to homes and businesses. A typical day of a Brownson Technical School graduate lasts from 8 a.m. to 4:45 p.m., during which time he or she will respond to multiple call orders varying in urgency. Once the technician arrives at a customer’s location, he or she uses diagnostic skills and tools to determine the cause of the problem, then responds accordingly. Some jobs require a simple tune-up, while others may need an entire system replacement. Brownson Technical School’s curriculum enables graduates to handle a range of these situations.
