Since its inception in 1987, Seoul Semiconductor has been leading the LED industry in Korea and is now heading to be one of the world's top 3 LED manufacturers with innovative management systems and advanced technologies.
Our focus on development, manufacturing and sales of LEDs guarantees that we supply our customers at any time with best in class products without competing with them in the same moment on their own markets.
With more than 10.000 own patents and cross licensing agreements with other leading LED manufacturers we offer to our customers a legal base for their own products. We grow fast thanks to our innovative high quality products, which we develop ourselves and in close collaboration with globally leading scientific institutions.

· 2012: Announced “nPola” that increases brightness more than 5 times; Registered 10,000 LED Patents Domestically and Internationally.
· 2011: Launched Acrich2 direct driven AC LED; Produced LEDs for automotive headlamp; Constructed a new factory; Added to the U.S. Environment Protection Agency (EPA)’slist of recognized laboratories for conducting LM-80 testingof LED.
· 2010: Prof. Shuji Nakamura, the world’s greatest LED lighting scholar started consulting for SSC; Mass production of TOP LED for TV.
· 2009: Seoul Semiconductor and Nichia settled litigations and entered into a cross license.
· 2008: Acrich, first gained RU recognition by US UL in the LED industry; Cross license with Tridonic Atco Optoelectronics and its patent partners with Seoul Semiconductor’s own technologies for LED phosphor.
· 2007: The world’s first LED package to receive the CE Marking Certification; Signed a Patent Cross License Agreement with OSRAM.
· 2006: Established a strategic alliance with Cree for White LED.
· 2005: Commercialized “AC-LED” first ever in the world.
· 2004: Launched Z-Power LED.
· 2002: Listed on the Korean Stock Market (KOSDAQ); Established Seoul Opto-Device Co., Ltd.
· 2001: Achieved QS-9000 certificate.
