    In this role I worked on the project ‘ESF-BioRedKat’, which dealt with a study of well promising alumina foam catalysts for the reduction of automotive exhaust gas emissions. I carried out synthesis experiments in laboratory scale for the production of alumina foams. In addition, these foams were coated with noble metals. BET, XRD, REM, TGA, UV-Vis analysis was used to characterize the foams. The application of these foams for catalytic reduction of exhaust gas was tried out in catalytic experiments.

    From 10/2011 I spent my placement at Novartis AG in Basel, Switzerland as part of my Bachelor-Thesis. The focus of my thesis was to investigate a process for continuous crystallization of pharmaceutical compounds. Therefore I characterized the system, simulated a continuous process using kinetic data from batch experiments and accomplished the continuous crystallization experiment.
