I am supervising a team of scientists. My laboratory is involved in executing pipeline projects, improving Novartis CHO cell lines and performing various routine molecular biology assays. Additionally I am responsible for several pipeline projects, including the coordination of a variety of development activities and active participation in CMC teams. Furthermore I am leading the Novartis “mammalian expression platform” (developing long term strategy, evaluation/implementation of novel technologies).

Lead a laboratory with several scientists, technicians and students; mentoring of a postdoc; gene expression screening and diagnostic marker identification using microarrays and real-time RT-PCR; next generation sequencing; cell line engineering using shRNA and knockout techniques; generation and charcterisation of recombinant mammalian cell lines for the production of biopharmaceuticals; process automation; project management (external and internal projects); ELN implementation; miRNA analysis

I am responsible for the characterising of different blood vessel cells (identifying and validating biomarkers using whole genome microarrays). Furthermore I compare the gene expression profile of different knockout mouse lines using whole genome microarrays and real-time RT-PCR.

My responsibilities were the detection of gene expression differences, biomarkers and signalling pathways in a toxicogenomic model system using whole genome microarrays working under GMP and GLP. I was also responsible for the development of microarray quality and reference standards.
