The main activity is the development and manufacturing of electronic systems for applications in power electronics and other fields of electrical engineering. The company supplies controllers for power converters for traction drives. Topic of work: Manager of the projects: “The NB-3025 charger” and ”The 109-E3 charger cabinet”. These products are designed for 6 trains NIM Express, which will be operated by "Deutsche Bahn" on the track "NIM" Nuremberg-Ingolstadt-Munich.

Proposal of a laser-headlights development project with results to be used in the automotive industry; initiation of the grant project TA04010135 at the TA CR “Advanced phosphor for high power LEDs and laser diodes” (total financial support 1.5 million USD). The subject-matter of the research was the development of vehicle headlights operating on the basis of a laser-excited material with the function of converting laser beam to the white light with focus on individual aspects of this area.

Technical and organisational support for realising the production of semiconductor detectors by ON Semiconductor Corporation intended for co-operation with CERN (Switzerland). Development of these detectors in order to improve their radiation resistance. Comprehensive preparation of the design, layout and technological steps needed for detectors production by ON Semiconductor Corp. Co-operation with a research group at the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology in Lausanne (EPFL, Switzerland).

Commissioned by the National Executive to perform an audit of Honeywell Prague Laboratory in terms of work efficiency and the soundness of working procedures proposed by a potential measures for improvement based on an assessment of this audit. Preparation of the contracts concerning Intellectual Property Rights between Honeywell and third parties, development of R&D projects, evaluation of fit between Honeywell strategic goals and opened program calls, proposing of programs internally within Honeywell.

Responsibility for preparing the company for operation as an Assessment Body with a view to applying the requirements of the Commission Regulation (EC) No 352/2009 of 24 April 2009 on the adoption of a common safety method on risk evaluation and assessment and thereby also the implementation of the common safety method of risk evaluation and assessment in the Czech Republic.

Strategic management including responsibility for the technical, organizational and business management such as analysis of new business opportunities, management of selected projects, designing commercial and financial parameters of projects, consulting for sales department staff, drafting documents for sales activities, creating processes for contract implementation, seeking business opportunities and suitable projects, participation in the planning and management of the Division’s resources.

Department worked with an X-ray laser capable of performing blanket-exposures of surfaces useful for masked lithography development and with more advanced X-ray laser that had a longer coherence length which is important for special lithography processes, e.g. holographic lithography, and for transferring mask patterns with higher fidelity. I prepared a proposal "Generating and characterization of nanostructures by X-ray lasers" using these equipments and manage the project with total support 400.000 USD.

Introduction of new products in practice and their optimization in terms of the local market and customer requirements provided these were developed abroad (e.g. in Australia). Management of work processes on local development projects.

Project: “Optimisation of Semiconductor Quantum Nano-structures” Discovering the mechanism of carrier capture and transfer in semiconductor quantum nanostructures by DLTS (Deep Level Transient Spectroscopy) which was important for designing semiconductor systems suitable for quantum photonics applications, for example lasers. This research was undertaken in co-operation with a research group led by Professor Eli Kapon at the Department of Physics, Swiss Federal Institute of Technology in Lausanne (EPFL).

The main focus of my work was leading the Physical Electronics courses and teaching doctoral students. In addition to teaching Physical Electronics I also prepared materials for classes, tutor and guide doctoral students, and wrote expert opinions and referee reports on theses.

I prepared a proposal for the project management and assemble a new research team. I then became a Head of the Research Department. The group consisted of some 60 specialists. The projects were devoted to research of detectors of elementary particles: 1) For the particle accelerator at CERN, Switzerland. I improved the production yield by 80%, won the tender for a contract for production of detectors and delivered them to CERN. 2) For the FERMILAB, USA. 3) For the TESLA at DESY, Hamburg, Germany.

Critical Reading and Thinking

The main topic of my work was integrated optoelectronic structures and sensor techniques. The project was focused on research into planar mono-mode waveguide structures fabricated in glass and LiNbO3.

“Modification of Semiconductor Surfaces by Ion Beams - Schottky Junction Technology” I studied the properties of Schottky barriers on silicon substrate. The work involved the measurement of Schottky barriers as well.
