Dipl.-Ing. Marco Börner

I am working on multiple highly complex projects throughout the Portfolio within big multidisciplinary teams. My responsible is creating visual communication of Canon's Products always with our users and customers in mind and creating tangibility throughout the project and company. We are always in close contact with our Japanese colleagues to stay in line with a holistic image.

I worked on projects in the diverse fields of concept-, industrial-, interior-, showroom, strategic- and POS-design for different international companies and agencies.

While my time at Yamaha Design Lab I was responsible of managing, in close communication with product management and engineering, the design development of consumer products ranking from AV speakers, keyboards, digital pianos to other electronic products and UX, graphic and package design. As a foreign designer in a Japanese dominated company I was also responsible for consultation on product development to help my coworkers get a better understanding of the western market.

I worked for different agencies and companies in various design disciplines from industrial, retail to interior design on sanitary, whiteware, shop interiors, workplace interiors, displays, etc. During that time as a freelance designer, I learned to organize myself, get flexible in my abilities, work on diverse projects in all kinds of areas, and transfer methods and experience.

At Sieger Design I worked on faucets, hand showers, shower heads, bathroom furniture, and the future of small bathrooms for companies like Dornbracht, Villeroy&Boch, and Duravit. Since that time and my time in Japan, I am interested in how different cultures of bathing and how the newest trends and innovations around the bathroom evolve.

After I finished University, I started working as a freelancer for different agencies in the fields of Industrial design, 3d visualization, interior transportation design, and photography. I learned how to be flexible and autodidactic and learned tools that help develop solutions for the diverse tasks I worked on.

While at university I worked for a small agency in Frankfurt that focused on retail solutions.

Design 3 is a renowned agency that was established in 1987 as a subsidiary of Moggridge Associates which is focusing on simplistic minimalist well thought design.

npk design is one of the Netherlands' leading product design agencies with design, engineering, and model-making in-house. What gave me a good all-over view of product development and perfect communication between everyone involved in the process.

The first Internship I did before starting University was in the Transportation Design Department of RLE Int. I had my first contact with Rhinoceros 3D (my first model was a can and it took me 4 hours), digital Sketching, and clay modeling.
