Michael de Picciotto

Michael de Picciotto has extensive experience in asset management, private banking and trading. Currently, he is the Vice-Chairman of the Supervisory Board at Engel and Volkers AG, a leading company specialising in the brokerage of premium residential and commercial real estate. It offers private and institutional clients a bespoke range of services through an extensive network counting over 800 locations worldwide. He arrived at Engel and Volkers at a time of rapid expansion.

Beyond his professional career, Michael de Picciotto is active in the philanthropic sphere. He established the de Picciotto-Lesser Cancer Cell Observatory in Memory of Wolfgang and Ruth Lesser at the Moross Integrated Cancer Centre of the Weizmann Institute of Science. With profound implications for life-saving research, this technology has a revolutionary potential for better understanding how cancer cells behave. The observatory is named after his maternal grandparents to honour their lives and memory.

For nearly 20 years, Michael de Picciotto served as the Executive Managing director at UBP, a Swiss private bank. He was based in London and Geneva. Overall, his career at UBP spanned almost 30 years, during which time he ran a range of divisions, including High Net Worth, Trading and Treasury as well as the London branch and the Asian chapter.

Michael de Picciotto began his UBP career in London in 1988 as managing director of CBI-UBP, before continuing on to other roles within the company, rising first within the bank’s structure and heading global financial activities.

After finishing his education at HEC Lausanne, Michael began a career at RBC Dominium Securities, a major Canadian investment bank, where he became co-head of the Capital Markets department. During this time, he was based in London and Paris. This was the start of an extensive career, over which he gained a reputation as an innovative banker and cemented this reputation among Institutional Investors as well as Ultra High Net Worth families. He arrived at Engel and Volkers at a time of rapid expansion.
