I led the design and development of a cloud-based biometric system using a proprietary biometric, writing all initial software - mobile, frontend and backend - to secure funding. Assembled a team of talented engineers and researchers Established software development methodology and processes; implementing best practices. Built a scalable Spring based microservices back end, deployed across multiple AWS instances for load and redundancy, with high performance code running across GPU instances.

Highlight: Built tools for non-technical staff to fix common problems. Increased data volumes and end users placed aging systems under load, resulting in increased downtime. My role as a Lead became less focused on team management and more on alleviating support load on developers who were called on every issue. Trained Ops to resolve issues themselves, instead of relying on Development. Improved monitoring to provide a better view into the system to speed up resolution. Reduced operational overhead costs.

Highlight: Re-introduced new product development which had stagnated years earlier. Company restructured the back office team into two teams: Integration and Services. I led both teams, commissioned to migrate from a “cowboy culture”. Introduced new processes and structures to improve software delivery and increase productivity. Highlight: Built a wifi-based content distribution system for Massiv Tv, installed at various taxi and bus depots. Continuation of role at Massiv Tv.
