The thesis work aims to study the influence of trajectory and steering model choice on collision avoidance time on rear-end crashes called ‘highD’. Built a single-track vehicle lateral dynamics model using Simulink Based on previous work, performed a virtual safety assessment using Matlab on drive collision avoidance assessment considering driver comfortable limit.

In a field test data-set, analyze the situation around the event using visualization and replay tools in log files from Autonomous Emergency (AEB)/ Frontal Collision Warning (FCW) activations. Categorized the events sources into sensor/sensor fusion/decision and control and events to true positive/false positive/nuisance. Collaborated with Collision Avoidance and Sensor Fusion teams to identify new issues from radar and camera.
