Part of urgent project migrating IBM Sterling Connect Direct batch scripts on RHEL Servers for financial client. Provide scripting support using Linux bash and Windows batch jobs to automate and integrate Linux and Windows data flows. Assignment completed ahead of deadline.

Part of Project team migrating and upgrading Solaris 10 Steel Belt Radius Server to RHEL 7.0 for secure Public Wifi Access for 10 million users. Worked from high level design and documented low level design and implementation plan. Special Note: a) I was involved in a car accident last year (July 2018) and was unable to continue with VirginMedia Contract. b) I recovered from my injuries in Nov / Dec 2018 c) I took on short term role in Dublin requiring Shell Scripting skills.

Part of team migrating and upgrading RHEL 5 (Physical) Servers to RHEL 7 (Rackspace Cloud). Automated Linux builds, set up and validate Ansible playbooks using python.

Part of urgent project working from Nessus security scans and apply relevant vulnerable security package updates on Linux estate hosted on cloud (AWS and RackSpace). Apply security updates on business critical system (IBM Neteeza Appliance). Provide consultancy on custom plugin for Lynis security auditing tool, and Linux instance recovery from AWS cloud.

Part of Business Services Team supporting Linux (RHEL) builds using Red Hat satellite and Puppet hosted on Vmware. Provide consultancy for Server hardening for Severs in DMZ and single sign on using FreeIPA LDAP. Integration of Linux Servers with Windows DFS. Provide support for Devops (Ansible, Containers, Docker, Kubernetes, Openshift, Terraform) for proof of concept projects.

Part of ICT Team planning for Solaris 10 Server data centre migration. Solaris 10 OS, hardware upgrade, maintenance for business critical Solaris Servers and provide shell scripting support.

Part of WebOps Team. Primary role to build DEV environment for POCA project as proof of concept. OS (Centos) and Application (Nginx / Mongo DB) . Servers hosted in Vcloud (SkyScape) using Devops tools (Ansible,Terraform) for automated provisioning and or configuration management. Provide consultancy for single sign on using ADFS / Saml and LUKS storage encryption for Mongo DB.

Primary role to evaluate and appraise OS (Centos and RHEL) and Application (Jboss/ Oracle) Server builds using RHN Satellite and Puppet. Provide consultancy for RHEL Server major / minor release management and future requirements.

Part of Unix / Linux (midrange support) Projects Team. Test, build and delivery of business critical Red Hat Servers running “Power on Fusion” Application used to monitor and manage Power Stations.

Part of Engineering Unix / Linux Team (Project/ Support). Support of Unix (Solaris 10/11) and Linux (Redhat / Suse) Servers for Euro Labs research and development teams. Migration of Storage on Solaris (ZFS Filesystem / Redhat (Veritas) from HDS to EMC Vmax. Installation and support of Linux cloud instances hosted on 1&1 cloud.

Part of Engineering Unix / Linux Team (Project). Documenting Unix / Linux Design in readiness for Implementation through Test, Development and into Production. Provided Linux support for roll out of urgent Billing Project.

Part of Engineering Unix Team (New Innovation and Development) supporting Unix (Solaris 10/11) and Linux (RedHat 5/6) Server builds from Development stage through testing and into Production. Developing /upgrading shell build scripts as part of Automation using subversion

Use of NIM for automated AIX Server builds and Solaris decommissioning. Roll out of RedHat Linux blades using Kickstart (Cobbler / Puppet) and Virtual (Vmware ESX) Linux Builds.

Part of urgent project to resolve performance issues on business critical application (ThinAnywhere) running on Linux Servers used by Senior Geologists / Physicists. Worked with ThinAnywhere vendor (MIT) to resolve existing application and system issues. Roll out of new software releases from development stage through modeling, testing and into Production. Project was very high profile with very tight deadlines. Automate Linux builds (cobbler / Puppet) either standalone or SAN attached (NetApp).

Over 27 years of experience within IT, of which last 16 years as a Senior Unix / Linux Systems Engineer for some major Companies such as (IBM, Sun MicroSystems, CitiGroup, Statoil, GSK , HBOS)
