I characterized an Ultra-Violet (365nm) microscope for the Nanometer Komparator for the Working Group “Length Graduation.” I integrated a new setup to an already-existing whole system as the Nanometer Komparator. • Developed a software interface in C/C++ using LabWindows and image processing within Matlab. • Synchronized Matrox frame grabbers with a National Instrument Card to control two CCD cameras. • Realized the different communication programs between the computer and the hardware parts.

Ph.D. in Engineering in the professors Yamada and Delaunay’s laboratory. (Tokyo University) “Diffractive optical Coherent microtomography for use in histology” Developed a diffractive optical microtomography instrument for imaging transparent/semi-transparent biological samples without staining and sectioning. Modified a brightfield transmission microscope to form a Mach-Zehnder interferometer. Accomplished three dimensional distribution of the refractive index of transparent samples.

“Diffractive optical Coherent microtomography for use in histology” • Optics: Hands-on experience in optical setup, electro-optics devices, image processing, holography, diffractive optics, and microscopes. • Programming: controlled a CCD camera, a piezo-electric transducer and a stepper motor.
