Navigation system development at HERE Deutschland GmbH

Since 2014 as department head I have been responsible for leading the department designing smart systems and embedded devices with an annual budget of €600.000. My key responsibilities are managing the work of a 5+ engineer team, leading software and hardware development projects, software development of embedded (C/C++) and server-side (Java in Linux environment) applications, strategic planning and process management. I report directly to the CEO.

In 2013 I worked as product development manager of intelligent control and metering systems. I was responsible for planning of product development directions, system architecture design, starting and leading software and hardware development projects, algorithm development, scheduling and financial planning, technical sales tasks and work prioritisation of team members. I reported to the head of department.

Beside my PhD study I participated at the university in several R&D projects in the field of embedded systems, image processing, metering and intelligent lighting as software and algorithm developer and as system architect. I worked in embedded environment in C/C++ using automotive standards like CAN, developed server-side application in Java and desktop programs in .NET, and I often used simulation environments like MATLAB during algorithm development.

As project manager I participated in two renewable energy system (a solar and a heat pump system) installation projects. In this complex work I was responsible for the whole process coordination: concept development, coordination of proposal writing, system design and of installation process and project administration.

Research work connected to my PhD study in the field of algorithm development, industrial image processing, big image dataset analysis, automation and quality inspection.
