Sunfilm AG was one of the world’s largest manufacturers of silicon-based thin-film modules with a capacity of ~145 megawatts peak (MWp). At Sunfilm Torsten was responsible for research and development. End of 2010 the Großröhrsdorf plant was bought by Schüco TF Gmbh. The plant in Bitterfeld-Wolfen was bought by the Wilms group and is now operated again as Sontor GmbH.

Sontor GmbH was the first manufacturer of thin-film silicon tandem junction ('micromorph') modules outside of Japan. At Sontor Torsten was responsible for research and development for its 25 megawatt peak (MWp) production line. Sontor was merged into Sunfilm AG in 2009.
