This PM role covered the whole replacement activity, including design, certification, finance and deployment planning together with the site systems suppliers. 3500 card payment terminals had been deployed on ~2200 retail sites, also enabled for contactless acceptance.

Project support for the design and implementation of new point of sale systems at ~2.200 Retail sites in Germany. Accountability for two high availability “NonStop server“ systems, which are connected to ~2.200 Retail sites for site automation and card payment processing. Consultant for the migration of the Retail network from ISDN/X.31/X.25 to DSL/TCP-IP, including support for Shell’s petrol station tenants in Germany.

Accountability for the strategic central global retail (petrol stations) systems, some legacy systems in various countries and the connected retail telecoms network, from an operations and project support perspective.

During this career time frame I used to be accountable for the central retail (petrol station) systems in Europe from an operations and project support perspective.

Installation and implementation of two new high availability NonStop Server Systems in full fault tolerance and fallback capability and the introduction of a new standard central software component for online card-processing (Poseidon OLTP).

Projects during that timeframe: Implementation of a new LAN based business service Implementation of a platform trespassing automated file transfer method for data-exchange Support for the implementation of a standard desktop infrastructure

Ensure maximum possible mainframe availability Implementation of bug fixes and preventive maintenance Operating system upgrades Performance management and management reporting - peripheral device optimization and definition

This was my initial employment. I was part of the mainframe datacenter support and operations team (MVS and VM operating systems) and did a lot of activities to ensure daily continuous operations.
