I used single-molecule force spectroscopy to reveal the folded state of a RNA molecule which is involved in DNA silencing. Here I used different labelling and coupling techniques to fuse the RNA to ssDNA which served as handles for the force spectroscopy experiment.

As a doctoral candidate at the Technical University of Munich (TUM) I am investigating of the basic concepts of protein folding. In a single-molecule optical tweezers assay we are able to study protein folding pathways and ligand binding with a high temporal (micro-seconds) and spatial (nano-meter) resolution.
