World-wide enzyme analytical support of all DSM feed enzyme products, registration, patent and direct customer support. Developed, maintained and validated feed and food enzyme assays including antibody-based rapid assays together with a lab team of academics and technicians and external analytical companies. Member of shared innovation projects (DNP and Novozymes) for new feed enzymes, of internal DNP innovation projects for gut health products, planned and led corporate science projects.

Leading of an own resaerch laboratory and scientific and disciplinary responsibilty for additional strain engineering laboratories of the process department. Conducting research for the biotechnological production of fat- and water-soluble, natural food and feed ingredients. Support of registration and drafting of patent applications. Responsibility for external research cooperations. Ideation, evaluation and planning of new research projects.

Line responsibility for two to three coworkers. Metabolic engineering of Bacillus subtilis and Saccharomyces cerevisiae for the production of fat- and water-soluble vitamins and plant secondary products. Analyzing production strains for bottle necks to enable or improve production,biological pathways, regulation of transcriptional and enzyme level. Reports, internal and external presentations, patent applications, registration of fermentative products, project work, steering of external cooperations.

Setup of a directed evolution laboratory including personel, involved in the custom design of a screening robot. Line responsibility for two to three coworkers. Optimization of enzymes of metabolic pathways to natural food and feed ingredients. Generation and screening of random enzyme libraries, deveoloping high-throughput enzyme assays. Presenting and reporting of results. Developing, planning and presenting of new project ideas.

Setup of a molecular biology/biochemistry Lab. Line responsibility for two to three coworkers. Identification and cloning of new enzymes/genes by PCR, enantioselective separations, enzyme assays, production strains for protein production, protein purification from complex matrixes and characterization. Support writing of patent applications, patent surveys, involved in a patent litigation case. Reporting of results in form of internal reports, patent application and presentation to stake holders.

Responsible for planning, conducting and evaluating of research in the field of rational enzyme engineering (thermostability, reaction kinetics), protein production in pro- and eucaryotic hosts, enzyme characterization, development of new method for protein engineering for thermostability. Support of patent applications and patent surveys, and a patent litigation case. Reporting of results in form of publications, patents, and presentation. Support the move of the department to the US.
