Ian Henderson group. Synthesis of novel recombinational hotspots in plants to unlock the hidden diversity with a focus on disease resistance.

Jeff Dangl group. Published one first-author paper. This was the first example of quantitative disease resistance in plants in response to a single effector, which contradicts the gene-for-gene hypothesis (Iakovidis et al., Genetics 2016). Initiated collaboration within and outside the group with the research teams of Prof Detlef Weigel (Germany) and Prof Murray Grant (UK). Miniaturized vacuum infiltration protocol, increasing data output tenfold.

Jonathan Jones group. Characterised transgenic Arabidopsis plants for disease susceptibility against downy mildew.

Silvia Costa group. Characterised mutant Arabidopsis lines to study patterns of root cell division. Work published in Development (Zheng et al., 2016).
