Dr. Bianca Stumbitz

Bianca's research interests include small businesses, (social) entrepreneurship and equality issues in the labour market. She has specialist knowledge on the subject of maternity and paternity at work, and has recently undertaken related research in Ghana, South Africa and Malaysia. Another key stream of her work is related to social enterprise. Recent projects include a study on wellbeing community businesses.

Project management, face-to-face interviews, focus groups; clients included Ikea, L'Oréal and Coca-Cola.

Research evaluations of press and media; writing of speeches and reports; translations; organisation of European Commission events.

Thesis Title: “Social Entrepreneurship Shaped by the Life Course : A Case Study of Older Social Entrepreneurs in the UK”. This project was funded by the ESRC and the Office of the Third Sector, and undertaken in collaboration with UnLtd, a charity that supports social entrepreneurs.

Qualitative and quantitative research methods

Primarily focused on political and economic aspects of the European Union and its international relations. Dissertation: ‘The Impact of EU Equality Legislation on Women in the UK Labour Market illustrated by Women’s Opportunities in Management Careers’ (Distinction).

Interdisciplinary structured course, mainly focusing oh cultural, social and educational aspects of the European Union.
