Doctoral Candidate
University of Bamberg
My primary doctoral supervisor is Prof. Dr. Ute Schmid, Head of the Cognitive Systems Group in the Department of Applied Computer Science at the University of Bamberg. My doctoral thesis aims to improve the robustness of AI models by integrating domain knowledge for affect recognition tasks.
As the project manager for GAIA-SaT-IoT, I oversaw the development of the first prototype of a wildlife camera tag that utilizes sensor-based AI in an embedded system. As a doctoral candidate, I developed and published methods for the BMBF Project Transparent Medical Expert Companion (TraMeExCo), where I served as a project manager. My research interests primarily focus on explainable machine learning, with an emphasis on ensuring the robustness and transparency of deep learning algorithms.
As part of my master's thesis, I developed a ResNet architecture with reduced parameters for real-time head pose estimation. Using a webcam, I programmed a real-time demonstrator based on the thesis. Additionally, I conducted a study to record videos of facial expressions.
