Security is not about technology the vast majority of the time. It is about enforcing consistency, and providing leadership to align governance models to enable the basic tasks that must be executed from an operations perspective to implement more mature and proactive information security and privacy activities. There is a hideous disconnect between the understanding of Data Controllers vs. Data Processors, even in the EU, which leads to a lot of operational and regulatory risk. Infosec and privacy need to be done right, not just done quickly to achieve a proper impact.
