Scientists. Identified complementary manufacturing partners based on financial targets, quality standards, and production quotas. • Additional Projects: Co-builder of the Carotenoids Business Strategy.Performed in depth technology analysis (macro & micro) and recommended new leads for strategic positioning and growth.

• Vitamin B5 Project Research: Built and led a fermentation lab for pathway engineering assessment, strain screening, and bio-process development for Vitamins. Designed 2 novel bioprocesses – a semi-continuous process (SCP) and a cascade-SCP – that reduced manufacturing costs over 70% • Contributed to the competitive technology assessment during the integration process - Roche Vitamins & DSM (Vital Project).

• “Closed the loop” on applications for xanthan gum that started in a biotech startup (Peru, 1990) and continued through Ph.D. and postdoctoral work at GBF (published a book on xanthan production in 1998). • Facilitated launch of a new super-plasticizer polymer. Improved quality, cut production costs over 30%, and opened a broad array of new applications for bio-gums. • Within 3 months, completed development and marketing of a new production process for Arachidonic Acid.

Achieved technology breakthrough in the production of 7-ADCA (7-aminodesacetoxycephalosporanic acid) through fermentation. Design of large scale operations was developed based on the integration of metabolic pathway engineering, strain screening, stability, and kinetics.

Ph.D. and Postdoctoral Position in Industrial & Pharma Biotech supervised by Prof-Dr. W.D. Deckwer. Developed biotech process for production and purification of t-PA. (01/1995–01/1998). Conducted a metabolic pathway screening of Gluconobacter oxydans using metabolic flux analysis for the production of DHA.

Consultant for Bioprocess Production: Improved process and quality management, leading to market-share increase.

• Launched the first-ever biotech startup in Peru: Devised business strategy and startup plan. Led R&D and managed integrated project plans. • Authored a corporate R&D Program on Plant Biotechnology for the Andean Development Corporation.
